BUILT FOR THE TACTICAL ATHLETE
A modern, athletic boot designed for first responders, the Nike SFB Field 8" Men's Boot features a breathable canvas and durable synthetic upper with a dynamic lacing system for ultra-lightweight comfort and lockdown. The outsole is equipped with an aggressive traction pattern and internal rock shield for multi-surface grip and puncture protection.
First responders are athletes in every sense of the word, but their moves are infinitely more vital. To meet their intense physical demands, the Nike SFB was built with the latest athletic footwear technology. Parts of the forefoot are puncture- and laceration-resistant, while the midsole is super-cushioned and extra flexible, ensuring a smooth heel-to-toe transition. The rubber outsole features reverse edges and a slightly raised heel for better grip when walking and running downhill.
A dynamic lacing system helps keep the foot in place and maintains a comfortable, customized fit during extended wear.
The Nike Special Field Boot is made with breathable, quick-drying fibers to keep the foot comfortable in warm conditions.
Design OriginsDuring World War II, Nike Co-Founder Bill Bowerman served as a member of the 10th Mountain Division in Italy. Upon his return, he became the head track and field coach at his alma mater, the University of Oregon. It was there that he honed a gift for creating high-performance footwear for his athletes. This boot is a realization of both of Bowerman's worlds.
I have had these boots for about 2 months. So Durability has not been much tested. So far seems to be a nice cool boot. Very little to no insulation which makes the boot great during summer months. I work as a first responder and wish would be available with the option of side zips, to making if easier to take on and off in a hurry without having to just keep them loose and untied all the time. Also sole would be great with a better rubber compound to make them slip resistant, the boot provides little to no traction on slightly wet floor. But I do understand this is an outdoor boot and not primarily and indoor boots. To be a good first responder boot these options are important.
Pricey but quite the upgrade you will expect from Nike after taking suggestions and comments over the years. With the older one, I never felt I could ruck-march in them, but this is just as good if not better than the army issued combat boots.<br />The design and look doesn't have the oomph factor but it works just the way a pair of good boots should.Solid and sturdy. You can't go wrong.
Great boot. Definitely worth getting, especially 1st responders and military folks.
The rubber on the toe is separating and I've only had these boots since December 25, 2014, I'm writing this on February 7, 2015. I don't put these boots through anything besides daily wear. I recommend them because they're comfortable and light, and maybe mine have a problem and yours won't.
Very comfortable do not required to be broken in. I'm not sure how durable. I have been wearing them for two weeks, I'm not seeing fast wear and tear.
